When you are on a dairy-free, gluten-free diet, hardest of all can be going without dessert. This is completely dairy and gluten-free and is lovely for a treat, even if you are watching the calories.

Ingredients
6 medium firm eating apples
½ cup of gluten-free flour
½ cup of sugar, divided in two
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup of rolled oats
¼ of a tub of dairy-free margarine

Some gluten-intolerant people can be highly sensitive to trace amounts of gluten; if this is the case, ensure that your rolled oats are from a gluten-free source.

Method
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and lightly grease a pie tin with the margarine.

Peel and slice the apples and sprinkle them with ¼ cup of white sugar mixed with ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and mix together.

Place the flour, rolled oats, ¼ cup of sugar and the ¼ cup of margarine into a bowl and mix them with a pastry blender or by hand until well blended.

Put the apples in the pie tin and sprinkle the mixed topping over.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly browned and the apple mixture is bubbling.

Let cool slightly before serving; serve while still warm. A dairy-free ice cream or custard is a good accompaniment.
